Worcester Lakes and Ponds Program
The City of Worcester DSR Lakes and Ponds Program has a comprehensive program to improving the water quality of all the lakes and ponds (or “Blue Spaces”) in the city. The staff conduct water quality monitoring and assessment, develop and implement management strategies, conduct outreach and education programs and more resulting in greater recreational opportunities for the residents of our city.
Worcester State University
Faculty and students from Worcester State University conduct extensive water quality testing in Patch Reservoir and Cooks Pond to supplement sampling done by the city’s Lakes and Ponds Programs. Students have done projects on a variety of subjects including water quality, wildlife, and land use in our watershed that have provided valuable information and helped shape management strategies. Patch Reservoir Research Facility is used for class field trips and student research projects in the Environmental Science, Biology, Geography, and Chemistry programs.
Friends of Patch Reservoir
Friends of Patch Reservoir is an informal, voluntary association of residents, friends, and advocates committed to the restoration and maintenance of Patch Reservoir.
