Volunteers from TBWA with assistance from the City’s Lakes and Ponds Program, DPW, Parks Department and summer youth hires completed four mornings of outreach to educate our neighbors on the importance of keeping pollutants out of stormwater. Many residents mistakenly believe the storm drains discharge to the wastewater treatment plant. But they actually drain to our streams and lakes and ponds, and anything that is dumped in the catch basin, or washes off (like fertilizer, pesticides and trash) ends up in our streams and water bodies. Our team glued placards to the curb adjacent to the storm drain grate and distributed door hangers to explain how stormwater impacts water quality.
